The team went down to Plum City Monday afternoon and were able to beat the Hudson Rats by a score of 2-1 in 8 innings (the tournament games were played as 7 inning games). New-comer Josh Marlow was the one who ended the game as he hit a walk-off blast to win the game. Eric Munson also had an outstanding showing from the mound, throwing all 8 innings for the Pirates. According to memory, this is the first time the team has taken first place in this annual tournament.
As a team, we would like to thank all of the fans that were able to travel down to see us play all weekend! We very much appreciate the support!
League play will continue this Saturday, June 3 as we take on the Ellsworth Hubbers at 1PM at Firehall Field. Hope to see you all there!
With the passing of this weekend, the team improves their overall record to 5-0 (2-0 in the SCVBL).
Last night the Pirates were able to advance to the championship game by beating River Falls 6-3. Connor Cress was the winning pitcher, throwing 6 1/3 innings. The Pirates are scheduled to take on the Hudson Rats today in the championship at 4:00PM.
The Pirates played down in Plum City yesterday afternoon against the Elmwood Expos. The team was able to find 3 runs in their 3-0 win, accompanied by a no-hit performance from Evan Bayer and 3 hits from Mike Brookshaw. The Pirates will head back down this evening to take on the Fighting Fish at 5:30PM. Hope to see you there!
We apologize for the absence so far this year, but here is a recap of what has gone on so far and a look into the future schedule!
The Pirates started their season off at home against Hager City on May 7th. The whole team shared the wealth as they were able to manage 11 hits and score 17 runs in 7 innings against the Skeeters. The Pirates had several players with a multi-hit game.
On May 13th the SCVBL was able to put together a team of all-stars to play in a game against the St. Paul Saints in what they referred to as a “brainstorming” (preseason) game. The Pirates had 4 players participate in this match-up including, Billy Brookshaw, Mike Brookshaw, Eric Munson, and Mike Lytle.
Saturday May 20th we were forced to cancel our home game with Bay City due to weather and field conditions. This game will be made up on July 8th at 1PM at Firehall Field.
Our most recent action was our game against Plum City this past Sunday. The Pirates got off to a rather slow start, but were able to string a few hits together in the 5th and 6th innings to start their run scoring. We won by a score of 10-0 in 8 innings, led by new-coming catcher Brandon Voelker who had 3 hits on the day.
Non-league action continues this weekend with the annual Memorial Day Tournament in Plum City. The Pirates are scheduled to play at 3PM on Saturday against Elmwood.
Pirates lost 4-3 in a heartbreaker to the Osseo Merchants in the first round of the WBA State Tournament. The team played great all season and represented the town of Prescott very well! Thank you to our fans and everybody who supported us.
The Prescott Pirates advance to the 2016 WBA State Tournament in Merrill after beating Spooner, and Haugen in the regional tournament this past weekend. The Pirates will play Osseo at 6:00pm on Friday the 19th in the first round. Hope to see you down there! Go Pirates
