Please read per the City of Spooner:
“COVID PRECAUTIONS: The City of Spooner passed a resolution in early August to allow us to continue as a host as long as certain practices are followed and enforced: Masks are mandatory for everyone outside the playing field, all persons in attendance will be required to sign a contact tracing form upon entry, social distancing to the best of your ability. The contact tracing sheets will only be used if there is a person who subsequently tests positive and notifies the Washburn Co. Health Department. The facility is owned by the City of Spooner, so we must abide by their rules and regulations. We will have hand sanitizer stands and masks available for those who don’t have one upon entry. We will NOT be supplying water jugs in either dugout for the tournament and teams are encouraged to drink out of individual water bottles or bring their own jug, per the City’s request. We ask that everyone be respectful of their regulations, whether you agree with them or not. This was a small concession for us to remain as a host site for all the work that has been put in by the Spooner Cardinals and others to make this event possible.”
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
We are advancing to the WBA State Tournament this coming weekend after 3 wins in the SCVBL tournament a weekend ago. The seeding meeting was held last night, where we were given the #7 overall seed for the tournament. The format of the tournament this year changed a bit, as we moved to a double elimination, pool play tournament. Along with us, the other teams in our pool are CCV (#2) and Brill (#10).
We’ll be playing Brill on Friday, at 6:30PM in Spooner. Winner/loser of this game will go on to play CCV on Saturday at either 10:30AM (loser of Friday), or 4:30PM (winner of Friday).
We’ve decided to draft a couple of players that we think will help our team a lot, welcoming Tony Garner and Hunter Black of the Plum City Blues.
Go Pirates!
Pirates are back in action tonight after beating the Blues last night, 6-1. First pitch tonight in River Falls is at 4:30PM, taking on Spring Valley. Hope to see you all there!
Go Pirates!
Attached here is the bracket for this week/weekend.
Pirates will play Friday, August 7th at 8PM. Will take on the winner of Game 2 between Plum City and Bay City.

As always, the Pirates would like to give a big THANK YOU to all of our 2020 sponsors! Without you, we wouldn’t be able to play year after year as we have for so many years. We appreciate your support and love supporting you back in return. Thank you!
2020 Sponsors included: Philander’s Bar and Grill, Heart, Hands & Mind, First National Back of River Falls, Cernohous Chevrolet, Ptacek’s IGA, Helmer Printing, River City Stitch, and WESTconsin Credit Union.
Last but not least, we’d like to thank the members of the CAB Company for all of the work they put into working on our field and making it look and play as great as it does! Very much appreciated by both the players and spectators. Thank you!
2020 League play came to an end this weekend, finishing with 3 wins. Our overall league recorded ended at 7-2 (8-2 overall) and placed us second overall in the SCVBL standings.
This week, the SCVBL will be starting our league tournament (beginning Aug. 5, hosted in River Falls) to determine which two teams will be advancing to the WBA State Tournament, which will be held in Spooner on Aug. 14-16. More information on the league tournament and when we will be playing will be coming later today/tomorrow morning.
Last home game of the season this afternoon! Bay City comes to town for a 1PM first pitch.
Hope to see you all there!
Go Pirates!
Please see guidelines for being at the park this summer. We’ve been asked to do our best to keep the number of people at the park to 50 or less (including both teams and umpire). However, if we have fans in vehicles down the right field line, as it says below, those will not be counted. We ask that all spectators respect those around them and to do their best to abide by these few guidelines.

Go Pirates!
Hi Pirates fans! We’re just about underway for the 2020 season (finally!). Our updated schedule for this summer is posted now, with league play beginning July 11th, in River Falls. Playoffs will look a little different this year with the unique situation that we’re in. A format is still being drafted and worked on, but will consist of an SCVBL Tournament at the end of the year for a “regional” round of playoffs to get into the State Tournament. More to come on that as we get closer.
We’re still waiting on some direction from the City of Prescott, as well as the Prescott School District on information about restrictions and limitations that will have to be put in place at Firehall Field. We’ll be sure to share those as soon as we have them. For starters, we do want to make sure we extend our concern for everyone’s safety, should spectators come out to watch this season. We ask that everyone respect those around you, and follow basic guidelines that have already been set forth by the City of Prescott, and the WI State Government. Any other guidelines that will have to be followed will be forwarded to the public as we have them.
We look forward to seeing you!
Go Pirates!
